Hourly billing is calculated for each hour of server operation. The system records VPS start and stop moments, charging only for active time. For example, if you use a server 100 hours per month instead of 730, you only pay for those 100 hours. Monthly billing is charged upfront for entire period regardless of actual usage. Hourly model is beneficial for testing, short-term projects, and variable loads, but for continuous 24/7 operation usually costs 10-20% more than monthly plan.

When VPS is stopped, charges for CPU time and RAM cease, but disk space continues to be billed at reduced rate (typically 20-30% of active server cost). This is because your data physically occupies space on storage. To completely stop all charges, you must delete the VPS. Before deletion, always create a backup if you'll need the data later. Network traffic is usually billed separately based on actual usage.

Hourly billing is ideal for testing and development when servers are needed for several hours or days. Suitable for learning and experiments—you can deploy environment, study technology, and delete server. Beneficial for peak loads and seasonal business—additional capacity rented only during promotions. Effective for analytical tasks, rendering, data processing—launch powerful server for few hours, complete calculations, stop. Also suitable for backup servers that are mostly inactive.

Cost control is ensured through several methods. In personal account, set budget limit with automatic notifications at thresholds (50%, 80%, 100%). Expense breakdown shows spending per server and resource in real-time. Recommended to configure automatic server shutdown by schedule or during inactivity through cron jobs or monitoring scripts. Use tags to group servers by projects for tracking each direction's expenses separately. Regularly check active VPS list and delete unused ones.

Minimum billing unit depends on provider. We use per-minute billing rounded to full minute, allowing payment for actual usage time. Launched server for 15 minutes—paid for 15 minutes, not full hour. Usually no minimum deposit amount, but recommended to maintain positive balance for uninterrupted server operation. Billing occurs hourly with automatic balance deduction. Upon reaching zero balance, servers automatically stop with 24-hour advance notification.
