How to resize an image in GIMP

GIMP offers a large number of tools for working with pictures. Immediately after activating the transformation, squares will appear on the borders of the square, which allow you to manipulate the layer. So you can press the left mouse button on the outer side, then move the cursor away, as a result the picture will decrease or increase proportionally. If you press the left mouse button on the rhombus on the inner side, the image will resize, but the proportions will not be preserved.

Canvas size

To open the necessary parameter, select the Image menu on the top panel or in the context menu. You will have to select it, and then click on the item Canvas Size.
