ZeroTier is periodically updated. Links to fresh upgrades are available on the official website of the network controller developer. Currently, version 1.10.2 is up to date, as indicated at zerotier.com.
A system administrator often faces the question of how to upgrade ZeroTier on the server and not lose the previously configured networks. In the step-by-step instruction we will understand all the nuances!
Check the version of ztncui with the command:
$ dpkg -l | grep ztncui
After that, see what version of ZeroTier One is installed:
$ dpkg -l | grep zerotier
You can do this through Curl by entering a request on the official website. After downloading the ztncui distribution package, run the install command:
$ sudo apt install ./ztncui_0.8.6_amd64.deb
Note that the current version should be specified here. Once downloaded and installed, it remains to check the package version with the command you have already used before.
After downloading the GUI, exactly the same step-by-step instructions should be used for the ZeroTier One package distribution.
The virtual network created on the previous version of the network controller should be verified. To do this, connect to it using ZeroTier UI ("Allow Managed Addresses" and select the desired one from the drop-down list.
If the connection is OK, you should go to the ZeroTier web interface and check if the device is connected to the virtual network you configured earlier. In the category "Peer Status" there should be a green inscription "ONLINE" (the current version is indicated in brackets).
That's it! You were able to update the ZeroTier network controller and get ready to work
