Upgrading Ubuntu to 15.10

02.03.2021, 20:46

The final version of the Ubuntu 15.10 system has been codenamed Wily Werewolf. Since this is not an LTS version, users believe that it does not need to be installed, but if you want to try the new system, and belong to a different category of users, further instructions are for you. This is a full-fledged release that is fully tried and tested and has no issues, but be sure to weigh the pros and cons before upgrading, as you won't have the option to go back to a 15.04 system afterward without reinstalling.

Upgrading to 15.04

The following instructions are primarily focused on Ubuntu Unity, but they are also for other editions including Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, and Ubuntu Mate.

The update follows the following instructions:

Press Ctrl+Alt+T to open a terminal. Next, you need to execute a specific command to update. The operation can take a really long time if the speed of your internet connection is not high. Execute the command

$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Next, run the update manager with the d option.

Command:

$ sudo update-manager –d

After that, the manager will check your system and offer to update to the current version.

Next, click "Update for Ubuntu to 15.10" and follow the system's instructions.
