Installing KDE UBUNTU 20.04

KDE is considered one of the most popular desktop environments. The environment is especially actively installed by novice Ubuntu users, who tend to. They usually switch from other operating systems, in particular Windows. The advantage of using KDE is that the interface looks like the most popular user operating system.

Installing KDE in UBUNTU

Before you start the installation process, you need to update the package and system lists to install the latest version of KDE and avoid possible errors. To do this, run the command:

$ sudo apt update

$ sudo apt full-upgrade

The update may happen quickly, or it may take some time - it depends on how long ago you updated and the speed of your Internet connection. Once the update is complete, you should install the tasksel utility:

$ sudo apt install tasksel

Once these steps have been completed, you can proceed directly to the KDE installation process. To do this, run:

$ sudo tasksel install kubuntu-desktop

You can also run another command:

$ sudo tasksel install kubuntu-full

You will need to configure the login manager. Click OK, and in the next window select Gdm to use Ubuntu's default login manager:

Click OK to all package manager warnings. Next, restart your computer and enjoy the newly installed KDE Plasma. After rebooting, there is an option to select your preferred shell. To do this, click on the gear at the bottom of the screen:
